Founded by Davinder Bhasin and Karan Arora, OHA is transforming the way people manage their health, combining secure digital health records, teleconsultations, personalized wellness insights, and even pet care under one unified platform. In an exclusive interview with The Entrepreneur Today (TET), Davinder opens up about the vision behind One Health Assist, the challenges faced during product development, and the brand’s plans for growth in a competitive market. From their recent app launch to future expansion, Davinder shares his journey of building a platform that puts health management at the forefront of technology and personalized care.
Can you talk about your and One Health Assist’s Journey highlighting the challenge that One Health Assist tackles and the key USP that defines the brand?
One Health Assist was born out of personal experiences with the challenges of managing health records, especially during critical times like medical travel. Both me and my co-founder, Karan Arora, and I faced firsthand the anxiety and inconvenience of carrying physical documents and the risks associated with misplacing them. Recognizing this gap, we envisioned a brand synonymous with ‘prevention to solution’ approach, not only streamlining health record management but also empowering individuals to take proactive control of their health. Our platform was designed to address these key challenges:
Centralized Health Record Management: We provide a secure, digital platform where users can store and access their medical records, prescriptions, and test results from anywhere, at any time.
Enhanced Access to Healthcare and wellness: We connect patients with a wide network of healthcare and wellness providers, facilitating timely consultations, appointments, wellness packages, medical subscriptions and lab tests to enhance one’s health.
Personalized Wellness Insights: By analyzing health data, we generate tailored recommendations to promote preventive health and early intervention.
But, what truly sets One Health Assist apart is our commitment to leveraging technology and data to deliver personalized wellness solutions. We believe that data, when used responsibly, can be a powerful tool for improving health outcomes. Like:
A Robust Data Repository: We are building a comprehensive repository of health data, which allows us to gain valuable insights into individual health patterns and trends and we are HIPAA compliant
Data-Driven Personalized Care: We use these insights to provide tailored recommendations, such as lifestyle modifications, dietary advice, and preventive screenings.
Innovative Technology Solutions: Our platform is powered by cutting-edge technology, enabling seamless access to healthcare services and personalized wellness programs.
By combining technology, data, and a patient-centric approach, we aim to revolutionize healthcare delivery, empowering individuals to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Can you talk about your product and service mix, elaborating on the ultimate vision for the product given that you have recently announced soft launch of the application?
OHA’s comprehensive approach to healthcare includes health repository, medical e-commerce, teleconsultations, wellness guidance, medical subscriptions and lab tests. This holistic care model aims to empower individuals to take charge of their health. By leveraging technology, OHA envisions a future where personalized healthcare is accessible to all. Through teleconsultations, early detection and prevention of health issues become possible. Post-treatment care is enhanced with remote monitoring and personalized recommendations. By analyzing health records and lifestyle data, OHA can provide tailored interventions to improve individual health outcomes. Ultimately, OHA seeks to create a platform that promotes proactive health management and empowers users to achieve their health goals.
Please share the challenges that were encountered in product development, emphasizing on the challenges you forsee in your brand building journey?
My vision for One Health Assist is to create a holistic, inclusive health platform that supports both people and pets as pets are very much a part of the family now. Health doesn’t have to be complicated; it should be intuitive, accessible, and reliable. We want to be the go-to health companion for our users—offering them a platform that simplifies their health journey, whether it’s finding the right doctor, monitoring health through our health score, or getting personalized wellness recommendations.
As we evolve, I see us expanding our services, improving our app’s AI capabilities, and incorporating even more personalized features. The ultimate goal is to offer a one-stop solution for all things health—helping people take proactive steps toward better living, making healthcare more accessible, and doing the same for their pets. We’re excited about using tech to bridge the gap between traditional healthcare and modern solutions, evolving with the changing needs of our audience.
Talking about the audience that you cater to can you share some engagement strategies while also elaborating on how you plan on boosting brand awareness.
Currently, we engage our audience through innovative and engaging initiatives like ‘Mission Fit Possible,’ which aims to inspire healthier habits by encouraging users to walk 10,000 steps daily for exciting rewards, such as Coldplay tickets. Campaigns like this not only create buzz but also establish a meaningful connection with users by integrating health and fun.
Our strategies extend beyond campaigns, focusing on generating analytical insights that foster trust and delivering a holistic care-driven experience to delight our customers. In a cluttered market, it is crucial to differentiate ourselves, as quality alone doesn’t always guarantee the spotlight. Thus, we emphasize showcasing the product’s capabilities while building faith in our brand, ensuring that our audience sees long-term value in staying engaged with us.
Above all, in healthcare, transformation is key. Delivering care that genuinely makes a difference is central to our philosophy. This approach, we believe, will not only help us create a sustainable presence in the market but also carve out our unique space amid fierce competition.
How is team building implemented by young startups? What are the challenges encountered in the journey?
Young startups often prioritize team building as a crucial component of their growth strategy. When recruiting, they look for individuals who not only contribute to immediate goals but also have the potential to become future leaders. Fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and shared vision is essential for long-term success.
One significant challenge startups face is balancing the need for agility with maintaining a consistent team culture. Managing diverse personalities, especially in a high-stakes environment where individuals wear multiple hats, can also be difficult. However, startups can overcome these challenges by prioritizing a supportive and transparent work environment, encouraging open communication, and recognizing and rewarding individual contributions.
As a bootstrapped startup, what are the financial hurdles that you have faced along the way? Do you think funding would be beneficial, now that the app launch has happened?
As a bootstrapped startup, financial hurdles have been a part of every step of our journey. From managing initial development costs to allocating resources for a successful app launch, each decision has required us to be extremely resourceful and intentional with our spending. Limited funding meant prioritizing essentials to ensure we could maintain quality with what we had.
Now that the app has launched, funding could certainly accelerate our growth. Additional capital would allow us to scale our development team, which would build long-term sustainability through constant product evolution; invest in more robust marketing efforts, to build awareness and ensure continuous growth and explore strategic partnerships to reach a wider audience, while also enhancing the effectiveness of the ecosystem. While bootstrapping has helped us stay lean and focus on core values, external funding could open new opportunities and provide the flexibility needed to achieve our long-term vision faster and more efficiently.
What are the lessons learned so far? How do you plan on utilizing them while building your presence in a cluttered market?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the power of user feedback. In the beginning, we thought we knew exactly what our users wanted, but it wasn’t until we got direct feedback that we truly understood their needs and pain points. We’ve learned that iterating based on real-world insights and making sure we’re addressing actual problems is key to building something people genuinely value.
In a market as crowded as healthcare tech, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. What sets us apart at One Health Assist is our ability to offer a comprehensive, easy-to-use platform that not only covers human health but also addresses the needs of pets. We’re building around our USPs—our health score feature, the availability of medicine subscriptions, diverse health experts with oir wellness plans, and the comprehensive health repository. Moving forward, we plan on doubling down on this approach—constantly listening to our audience, refining our offerings, and ensuring we stay true to our mission of making healthcare more accessible and personalized. Staying authentic and transparent will help us carve our niche in this cluttered space.
What is your vision for the brand? How do you think it will evolve in pursuit of the vision?
Our vision for the brand is to redefine how individuals manage their health by providing a seamless, accessible, and proactive healthcare experience. We’re committed to empowering people with the tools they need to take control of their health—whether it’s through easy access to medical records, preventive care solutions, or personalized wellness guidance.
As we evolve, we anticipate expanding our offerings to cover a broader spectrum of healthcare needs, integrating even more advanced technologies like AI for predictive health insights and personalized care recommendations. We aim to become a trusted partner in our users’ wellness journey, focusing on innovation, accessibility, and prevention. In pursuit of this vision, we will continue to listen to our users, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and adapt to emerging trends. Our goal is to grow into a comprehensive ecosystem that not only addresses immediate healthcare needs but also empowers people to stay healthy for the long term.
How has being a founder changed you personally, and what have you learned along the way?
Being a founder has truly been a transformative journey. It’s not just about business—it’s about personal growth. I’ve had to learn resilience, patience, and the importance of balancing my personal life with the demands of building something meaningful. I have realized that being a good founder means being open to learning from everyone around you—your team, your users, and even the challenges you face.
One of the biggest personal lessons has been the importance of adaptability. I’ve learned that no two days are the same, and the key to staying grounded is embracing change. There are highs, lows, and plenty of moments when you question yourself, but every experience helps you become better. Being a founder has taught me to be more patient with myself and others, and that building something great takes time and constant effort.
